What Extra Services Do Movers Offer?

Moving your household doesn’t mean only transporting your goods. It also contains many more services such as packing, unpacking, long carry, wrapping furniture, disassembly, reassembly, special item handling…etc. Some of these services are included in the estimation that you got from your mover but some of them not. My Moving Cost Team gathered some useful information for you regarding what extra services movers offer for your upcoming relocation.

Additional Services Movers Offer

Packing

Packing is a time-consuming task especially when it comes to a Canada wide relocation. Most of the moving companies offer partial packing service included in the price estimation. Partial packing includes big item wrapping like sofa, couch, dinner table, chair, TV stand…etc.
But if you don’t have time for packing or you want a good protection to your belongings or you want your small and personal items to be packed with care, you can request professional packing services.
Professional packing service is a good option if you have special items that don’t fit into regular moving boxes such as antiques, china cabinet, paintings. Professional packers and movers will have special packing supplies for you. Besides, the moving company won’t be liable for anything you have packed yourself.

Unpacking

Unpacking services are also available upon your request. If you are willing to pay extra for this service, the movers will unpack every single item and put them to the right place in your new home. Also, if you don’t want to deal with the empty boxes and packing supplies after unpacking, the movers will dispose of them for you.

Furniture disassembly and reassembly

The best way to ship large furniture is to disassemble them into small pieces. This requires special tools and is definitely not a simple task. If you do not have experience in furniture disassembly-reassembly, there is a high risk of damaging your household goods during the process. Especially if you have expensive or delicate furniture, we highly recommend you to leave this to professional movers and packers. When it comes to the cost of disassembling and reassembling your furniture, moving companies charge depending on the kind of the furniture and hours they spend.

Appliance servicing fee

If you want the movers to disconnect your appliances such as washing machine, dryer, refrigerators…etc and set them up at your new location, you will have to pay an appliance servicing fee.

Different pick-up and delivery locations

If you need some of your items to be picked up and/or dropped off to different locations, you will be paying an extra fee for this service.

Storage

If your new house is not ready to move in yet or your relocation plans are not %100, you may need to keep your items in storage between the pick-up and delivery dates. Most of the moving companies provide storage services for a fee. The cost will depend on the weight of your belongings and the duration.
